The United Arab Emirates has followed a rational foreign policy based on the values and charter of the United Nations since its creation on December 2 , 1971, by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It has a stance which complies with the laws and customs upon which international credibility is based. The UAE ‘s relations with all countries in the world have always been distinguished by this consistent approach. Consequently, the recent speech delivered to the United Nations General Assembly by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, articulated the developments that constitute the fundamental context for Emirati diplomacy, which is marked by a considerable degree of dynamism, efficacy and the capacity to step beyond the context of traditionalism and stance.

It was natural for the speech to concentrate extensively on discussing the vision of the UAE for Israel ‘s landmark peace settlement and how it strives to expand new horizons and pathways for future generations by laying a strong basis for the coexistence, tolerance and sincere acceptance of others. The vision of the Emirati for the present and the future is focused on intertwined values and pillars, the most important of which is the need to settle disputes by diplomatic means, tolerance, pluralism and universal acceptance. The unilateral, closed dreams have compounded the Palestinian cause.

The true causes of the current crises in the region, which has been plagued by many wars and areas of instability which have spread in many countries, have been very important for the UAE to confirm. The speech of the UAE Foreign Minister is direct and revealing about the alert against the expansionist aspirations of some regional countries living in historical fantasies, which spurred them to flagrant military actions in many Arab countries, thinking that the current Arab strategic vulnerability may be the key to rewriting history, redrawing maps and re-engineering the region.

These alerts come from our fact and our history, as the flash points in Yemen, Syria, Libya, Iraq and others are connected to crude intervention in Arab affairs by countries bearing the fuse of sedition or historical delusions to regain power and colonialism over the Arab region and the Horn of Africa, sparking bloody wars, Sheikh Abdullah clarified the UAE vision.

The confirmation by the UAE of its commitment to the United Nations Secretary-General for a worldwide truce is a strong reflection of the deep strategic understanding of the danger of ongoing disputes, differences, wars and crises and their coincidence with unorthodox risks , especially the outbreak of epidemics, as numerous countries and regions of the world are adequate.
