UAE: Cheaper PCR Tests in the Emirates!
The test stays free for those suspected of contracting the virus. Covid-19 PCR tests are now available at cheaper rates across the country. Typically these highly accurate nasal swab tests would cost Dh370 but now rates have dropped to below Dh300. The Department of Health ( DoH) in Abu Dhabi has capped the price at Dh250. According to sources, the DoH circular titled ‘Coronavirus Diagnostic Test (Covid-19),’ a copy of which KT has obtained, states: ‘Please note that the cost of the PCR test is updated and must be directly covered by the individual, with a maximum of Dh250 for cases without symptoms or medical indication for testing.’ The test remains free for those suspected of contracting the virus and others classified within vulnerable groups. Other national healthcare networks have also slashed their prices for the PCR tests. The VPS Healthcare Hospitals, which runs 12 hospitals and a number of clinics, recently announced that they are now offering the Dh200 test, with results expected in 24 to 48 hours time. Those wishing to get their results within 12 hours could take advantage of the Dh250 option. Group hospitals offering the discounted rate include Burjeel Hospital, LLH Hospital, Medeor Hospital, and Lifecare Hospitals. Zulekha Hospital has started special group screenings, encouraging people to get tested before returning to work at a Dh250 price per test. A number of Aster Clinics across Dubai , Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Ajman have also announced they are conducting the Dh299 RT-PCR tests.
