The United Arab Emirates presents the idea of the country hosting the COP 28 Conference about Climate Action!
The United Arab Emirates recently announced a plan to host the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change’s 28th session in Abu Dhabi in 2023, with an emphasis on the economic justification for inclusive climate action. “The climate challenge is overwhelming, but it is also balanced by tremendous potential to accelerate economic development and job creation,” H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, said in response to the UAE’s offer to host COP 28. We ’ve witnessed directly that there is now an enormous business case for the highest degree of climate ambition — particularly as it promotes gender equality and empowers youth — as a nation that sits at the heart of the hydrocarbon industry and has made major investments in energy diversification domestically and around the world.”
“COP 28 will be a watershed moment for seizing this opportunity, and our goal is to work with all countries to realize the net economic benefits of rapid action,” she says.
