Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, President of the United Arab Emirates, is a promoter of women’s rights and empowerment!

Emirati women have accomplished a lot, from battling with men against invaders in the 19th century to taking the UAE to Mars last year. Women in the UAE hold positions of power at the highest levels of government. They have played a critical part in producing stronger, more aware generations capable of overcoming future challenges as moms. As experts, UAE women have pioneered therapeutic studies for Covid-19 to help the world recover faster from the pandemic. The UAE has also been a leader in integrating women into the defense sector in the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The UAE administration has prioritized women’s empowerment through the Khawla Bint Al Azwar Military School in Abu Dhabi, allowing them to serve alongside their male counterparts on an equal basis. Under the leadership of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE has recognized the importance of education in women’s economic empowerment since its inception.

Fundamentally, preparation is everything if one wants a superlative outcome. The UAE leadership established right at the beginning that there would be no development without activating 50 per cent of the country’s population, says Hussain Al Mahmoudi, the CEO of the American University of Sharjah Enterprises (AUSE) and the Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP).

Following the examples set by Baba Zayed, the first President of the UAE, his son Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, second president of the UAE, elevated the status of Emirati women.
