For the first time, the Al Qassimi Hosptial Sharjah, along with the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention, has launched a novel non-surgical procedure, Rezum, approved by the U.S. Foodand Drug Administration, for the treatment of enlarged prostate in the UAE. Rezum Therapy is a non-surgical procedure that uses renewable energy contained in water vapor or steam to eliminate extra urethra-pressing prostrate tissue, according to international medical reports. Dr Younis Al Shamsi, Consultant Urologist and Head of the Department of Urology, Al Qassimi Hospital, said: “The therapy of Rezum is a healthy technology and a painless treatment.”

The urologist inserts a small narrow pipe into the urethra during the treatment to inject water vapor directly into the swollen prostate tissue. The steam condenses into water, releasing the energy accumulated that helps to shrink the prostrate tissue excess. Dr Shamsi added: “For years, the primary options for treating prostate enlargement were through medications or surgery, making Rezum a new option for patients who are dissatisfied with their current choices for treating this condition,”

As part of our dedication to minimizing the suffering of patients and improving their life for the better, we aim to improve progress and excellence, introduce the best therapies in hospitals, promote the new medical technologies, raise the expertise, Yousuf A Serkal, General Director of the Emirates Health Services Company and Assistant Undersecretary of the Hospital Sector at the Ministry of Health, said: Dr. Kalthoum Al Baloushi, Head of Hospital Administration at the Ministry of Health, said Rezum therapy, with the support and support of the Ministry of Health, is a qualitative addition to Al Qassimi Medical facilities.
