New Hybrid Greenhouse in the Emirates!

Opening in early 2021, Armela Farms’ latest hybrid greenhouse will feature more than three hectares of fully integrated, sophisticated data-driven farming technology, the first of its kind in the UAE. Located in Abu Dhabi, the 2021 plant is the GCC’s first commercial hydroponic lettuce project, with an annual production potential of 9 million lettuce heads and an incredible 2,300 tons, all 100% pesticide-free.

The UAE is known internationally for combining the fundamental principles of its farming heritage with the new inventions and innovations. The use of hydroponic farms, cooling and climate management technology has been prioritized by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment to address the historical problems of lack of water supply and arable land, soil salinity, daunting environmental factors and usually high production costs. Armela Farms is thus working to refine the procedure and to become the industry norm in the UAE.
