Amnesty stresses on false claims being used to tarnish its image in Pegasus issue
A non-governmental organization advocating Human Rights — Amnesty — refuted all the claims that are being used against it in the Pegasus issue, blaming it on the false media reports.
Since the eruption of data surveillance reports of Pegasus in the media, there have been various channels and companies who were quick to point out breach of privacy privileges and infringement. However, till a very long time, not much was known about it. Out of the many names that were highlighted for using Pegasus, a spyware software, Amnesty International also made it to the list.
On Thursday, the human rights organisation finally opened about the issue refuting all the claims and clearing the air blaming everything on the false media narrative. They stated that the organisation still categorically stands by the finding of the Pegasus project. “Amnesty International categorically stands by the findings of the Pegasus Project, and that the data is irrefutably linked to potential targets of NSO Group’s Pegasus spyware.”
It also added that the rumours that have been spreading on social media are taking the attention away from the real issues like the targeting of journalists, activists and other names that were revealed during the Pegasus project.
