39,000 children in the United Arab Emirates are learning STEM skills through an online program.
Over 39,000 students have benefited from the Adnoc Stem education program, which has provided them with new skills in a variety of fields. Since the program began in 2017, 39,388 students from 897 schools across the UAE have learned new skills, with ambitions to hit 200,000 students by 2030. “We are optimistic that as more trusted partners join us in our search to create a knowledge-based economy through the Stem program, we will continue to inspire passion for creativity, innovation, and ingenuity for generations to come,” said Shaima Al Zarooni, Adnoc’s advisor for corporate social responsibility, group communications, and CSR.
The program was extended from October to last month due to the overwhelming response. By the end of February, the Facebook page had attracted over 11,500 students. Adnoc also organized a workshop for children to learn how scientists use data in their work, as well as an artificial intelligence and machine learning course. In addition, an annual ‘Energy for Life’ competition for schools will be held, with five winners obtaining a fully equipped virtual reality studio for educational institutions.
